The Internet has opened up a whole new world for promoting a network marketing business. There has never been so much opportunity to reach as many people in as short a period of time, and to do it with very little expense. The traditionalists are only just beginning to realize that are being left behind by a whole new breed of network marketer.
Even those traditionalists who are moving into Internet based marketing are making mistakes, because they are still looking at it with an old world points of view. A great example of this is in advertising. Traditional advertising, such as on television, is very much "in your face". There is no subtlety, because there simply does not need to be. The prospect is watching television already, and expects that commercials will appear in a commercial break.
Carrying this onto the Internet, the traditionalists will try "in your face" advertising such as banners and blatant pop ups. These advertising methods simply do not work on an information based platform. People do not go onto the Internet to view advertising, they go onto the Internet to search for information. On the Internet, you need to "pre sell" your prospect, and make them want to find out about you. This is achieved by your positioning yourself as a leader, and giving away free quality information.
Many people who market network marketing opportunities only sell the opportunity itself, or the product or service which the company sells. Although these are important, there is another selling job, which is far more important. This is the job of selling yourself. Prospects are traditionally drawn to a business leader who can help them achieve their own aspirations and goals in their business life.
Having an attractive product and a business opportunity, which offers a lot of potential, is simply not enough. Anyone looking to build a serious business will do their research into sponsors, and will select the sponsor which they believe will give them the best possible chance of success. A sponsor who is seen to be a great marketer will always come out on top against one who simply pushes the attractiveness of the product.
