When Google is trying to decide how important your website is, and where it should show up when somebody searches for a particular word or phrase, the search engine giant analyzes is how many other people link to your site.
That is, how many “backlinks” that website has.
Now keep in mind: Google likes Twitter — a lot. You’ve probably noticed by now that Google picks up everybody’s tweets as part of the information it gathers all over the web. Results from Twitter show up on the first page of nearly every Google search, often in special areas that grab your attention.
So how to you combine Google’s fondness for Twitter, with the search engine’s equal love of backlinks? Is there a way to somehow create backlinks using Twitter and get twice the “bang for your buck”?
There is now. With just a few minutes of “set it and forget it” work using the special features only available with the premium Twitter client called MarketMeSuite, you can start getting thousands of backlinks to your site in the easiest way I can think of.
Have you noticed that every “tweet” ends with a hyperlink? It reads something like “via TweetDeck” or “via web.” This shows you what method the writer used to send out that message. So if you click on that underlined word “TweetDeck”, guess what? You get taken to the TweetDeck homepage, where you can conveniently download the TweetDeck Twitter client software.
So think about it: what if that “via” line linked to your site instead? Not only would you send more traffic to your blog or website, you’d be generating — you guessed it! — a precious backlink!
Using MarketMeSuite, you can “own” and customize your “via” line and then build up backlinks quickly, using Twitter, with every single “tweet” you send out.
I have a number of Twitter accounts and used MarketMeSuite to give them all a unique branded “via” line.
Each hyperlinked “via” line links to a different site or blog I own. Sure enough, when I check, Google Webmaster Tools tells me each site now has thousands of backlinks, and a huge number of those came from using this backlink building tactic.
One of my sites is only a few months old, but already has more than 7000 backlinks — and is #11 on Google for its keyword phrase.
(Hint: obviously use the keyword phrase you want to be found for, in that branded “via” line. Google looks at this “anchor” text in every link to help sort out your site’s position in the search engine rankings, too. So the link should read something like “via YourSite.com” or “via MyStore”.)
Unfortunately, only one Twitter application lets you customize your “via” line and that’s MarketMeSuite. The good news is, you can get it for a low, monthly fee, and it works on Mac or PC. I purchased a one-time license because I use it for my business and my clients’.
I used to use TweetDeck but switched over because MarketMeSuite has more features like this one. You can always try it and see if you like it. I know that I can’t do without this application’s ability to build backlinks to my blogs, using Twitter.
