Whether they are used for printing documents or photographs, portable printers allow you to get all of your business and personal printing needs completed without having to go to your home, a business or a library. While there are plenty of options when you need something printed, you do not always want to have to stop doing whatever it is that you are doing to go inside.
For Business Needs: Printing on the Go Makes You Completely Mobile
The days of being stuck in your office all day long are long gone. So are the days of having the typical nine to five business hours. These days, the average business person is on the go, making deals while on the train in to work and just as likely to be closing a big deal at a coffee shop at midnight as they are to be doing the same thing at the gym at six am. Thanks to tablet computers, smart phones and other handheld devices, there is no need to sit in an office to get work done. People can browse the web and do everything you would do in a traditional office outside as long as there is a signal available. The only limitation was printing until the portable units were developed. Meant to be light weight and easy to carry along, most of them are also wireless to make them easier to use.
The Options Available
There are dozens of brands to choose from, of course, and some models work better with the smart phone that you use. Others allow you to use Bluetooth to wirelessly send files that need to be printed out. Your choices should be narrowed down by connectivity and compatibility, price, portability and the style of printing that you will be doing most often. For instance, if you know that you will be printing out photos most of the time, then that is the style of printer that you need. If you need documents, that is the option that you should choose. There are hybrids that will allow you to print out either. Other options include:
• Printers that will print on odd sized or odd shaped paper.
• Printers that print on plastics, fabric and other non-paper materials.
You must also pay attention to the type of printer ink that will be needed for your choice in portable printers. If there is a good bargain on the printer but the ink is very expensive, you lose most of the savings that you initially get.
As a business person, you can typically use at least a portion of the cost of the printer and its supplies (including ink, special papers, etc) as a deduction for your taxes, which brings the investment down slightly. But, you do not have to have a business person to use and enjoy these portable printers.
